The Edinburgh Marathon Festival weekend has been a firm fixture on the UK race calendar since 2003. Comprising a host of events, from 1.5km to half marathon, the weekend culminates with the full marathon.
Starting in the grounds of one of the world's oldest universities, the course takes runners around the heart of Edinburgh and the sights this historic city has to offer: Greyfriars Bobby, Edinburgh Castle, the Scott Monument, and Holyrood to name just a few. The route also takes you past (but thankfully not up!) Arthur's Seat, Edinburgh's extinct volcano, before heading out for a coastal out and back finishing in picturesque Musselburgh.
